1st Shift Fabrication Technician (Brake Press Operator)

Job Summary

This position reports directly to the Fabrication Supervisor and operates the Brake Press and various machines such as band saw and circular saw to fabricate metal and non-metal work pieces. This position has a machine premium incentive.

Job Description

  • Operates brake press, learns the operations of maintaining automated programs, and ensures quality parts according to schedule to maximize production and minimize material waste.
  • Operates equipment in a safe manner and reports hazards associated with the equipment or its operation to the Safety Director and Maintenance Department.
  • Maintains accuracy of product by following blue prints, cut lists, and known practices.
  • Maintains a level of output that will minimize production delays.
  • Cleans and maintains an orderly work area.
  • Communicates effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow.
  • Orders needed raw materials through purchasing.
  • Inspects own work and makes corrections as needed.
  • Assists other individuals in Fabrication Department when needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of metal cutting processes and equipment.
  • Good communication skills relative to supervisor and other related departments.
  • Math skills including good understanding of fractions and angles.
  • Ability to read tape measure and angle finder.
  • Ability to read blue prints drawings and cut lists.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Trained in forklift operation.
