Mounting/Final Assembly Technician

Job Summary

This person reports directly to the Mounting Supervisor and is responsible for mounting the finished product to either a provided chassis or trailer.

Essential Job Functions

  • Mounts finished product on truck chassis in an efficient manner to maximize production.
  • Prep: installs brackets, such as and not limited to arm brackets, cylinder brackets, guide brackets, hydraulic pump mounts and brackets, prop rod brackets, oil tank brackets and oil tank, cross members, struts, and strut mounts.
  • Modifies frames to chassis to be compatible with assigned finished product to be mounted. Such as moving fuel tank, relocating battery boxes, air dryers, air tanks, routing of air lines, and fuel lines.
  • Checks that the finished product matches the work order and associated change order.
  • Cleans and maintains an orderly work area.
  • Communicates effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow.
  • Schedules work load with mounting dept. lead or head operators.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic automotive mechanics and fabrication skills.
  • Demonstrates good communication skills to promote teamwork and efficiency.
  • Ability to demonstrate math skills including angles and fractions.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical documents and blue prints. Work orders.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical ability to work in awkward positions such as kneeling, lying down, and overhead.
  • Ability to climb and work from ladder.
  • Trained in overhead crane operation.
  • Ability to work various shop tools including, pneumatic impacts, hand wrenches, sockets, hogan drills floor jacks, hand grinders, and other miscellaneous shop tools.
